What persuaded you to work for Bank of America?

What attracted me the most about working at BofA is its global platform and how connected people are. The firm has a huge pool of talented individuals who are always open to sharing their perspectives and experiences, regardless of where they are. Working with people who are willing and eager to go beyond their job description and connect with other parts of the business inspires me.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love how intellectually stimulating my work is and, cliché as it may sound, truly no two days are the same! Markets are fast-moving and breaking news can happen any second of the day. It is a challenging yet very exciting job to offer the most timely analyses and impactful insights to our clients.

What skills are important for an equity research analyst?

Analytical ability matters immensely. It is also critical to know how to communicate with various people, and paying attention to details others neglect can also bring interesting ideas and new perspectives. However, the most important skill is being able to learn new things quickly, constantly reinvent yourself and pick up new skills along the way.

The firm provides a great amount of resources and support for personal and career development.

How does the bank support your development?

The firm provides a great amount of resources and support for personal and career development. I joined the bank via campus recruitment. Starting from day one of my internship, there are very systematic training programs to help us adjust to the role. After joining the bank full-time, I continue to engage in a number of career development trainings, workshops, and forums. There are also a variety of employee networks that help connect people together in addressing different aspects of our career developments.

What do you enjoy doing in your personal time?

Among all weekend activities, yoga is my favorite. It keeps me grounded and centered. Regular practices bring me mindfulness and clarity, which could be particularly helpful after a busy week at work. I also love reading outside of the scope of business, such as history, tech, poetry and fiction. It always surprises me how thoughts in one field could spark great ideas in another.

What advice would you give to students?

Be true to who you are and what you want to learn in your career. The best way to find out is to maximize your learning opportunities, especially early on in your career. Find a platform where you can have the widest exposure and can do things that continuously push you. Also take the time to reflect on your experience.
