My name is Sarah Veith. I’m in the Global Risk MAP program, or just GRMAP and which is a risk rotational program.

I liked that I would get 2 different experiences over 2 years. More importantly, I like the culture at Bank of America. I think that you’re always going to be able to meet new people. Learn new experiences. There’s so many endless opportunities.

At our core of our lending institution, we’re a bank, and anytime you loan someone money, there’s risk within that. But also we take on a lot of operational risk. If you aren’t managing your risk, your company’s not going to survive.

I’m part of the enterprise stress testing team. I come in and there’s 20 of us on a floor. We all have different experiences, we all come from different backgrounds, and I think that keeps it refreshing. So, it’s very dynamic. It moves quickly.

To work in risk you have to be able to communicate effectively what you’re trying to share with business partners, with regulators, internally with your team.

You really get to meet people that have had totally different experiences and it’s a great way I think to learn about the bank and understand all the opportunities that are here.

I’ve really felt like my experience and my words and my thoughts mattered. You’re not considered this young person that’s just coming in at the bottom of the totem pole and you’re in a rotational program so you’re doing busy work. It’s not like that, at all.

The work that you’re doing matters. We’re a big part of our country’s financial landscape, so I enjoy seeing where, what we do makes a difference and has a major impact.
