What persuaded you to work for Bank of America?
The firm’s in-depth knowledge of local and international markets and its status as a preeminent banking and financial services employer globally. The opportunity to make a real impact and contribute in a high performance industry and outcome driven environment is very appealing.
Bank of America also has a great reputation for leadership in the industry and empowers and challenges its employees to be the best professionals they can be.

What advice would you give to students?
My advice for students is to put yourselves out there and maximize every learning opportunity – say yes to opportunities even if you think you’re not ready for them. From a personal development perspective, you need to be challenged to ensure that you can evolve.

It’s important to try and gain a well-rounded and practical experience through internships, work experience, and extracurricular activities in order to understand what you like and enjoy.

In one word, how would you describe Bank of America?
Progressive

You will be supported and surrounded by learning opportunities, which gives you the freedom to grow and be supported in creating the career you want.

How do you describe the culture at the bank?
Bank of America has a focus on driving responsible growth. The bank fosters a culture of accountability – where we are held accountable for business results, and highly invested on working on the business collectively. The bank’s commitment to its clients also sees the firm creating a strong culture around integrity and customer focus.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Markets are constantly changing so you get the opportunity to experience a high level of challenge and excitement in your day-to-day. It is exciting to provide access to flow and investment solutions to key clients – and it is extremely rewarding to see the BofA Global Markets franchise grow on the back of your decisions and actions. It’s very rare that you get to start your career in an organization where you have a direct input in the growth of the entire business and take on real responsibilities from day one.

How does the bank support your development?

There is a huge emphasis on ongoing training and professional development as there is so much to learn! You will have access to formalized training programs and on-the desk learning. You will learn everything you want to know about macro & micro-economic markets with daily exposure to building your interpersonal, technical, analytical and advisory skills. It can be hard work at times and a lot to learn with the steep learning curve. However, this really does accelerate you and your progression.

You will be supported and surrounded by learning opportunities, which gives you the freedom to grow and be supported in creating the career you want.
