What was it like joining Bank of America?

There were a lot of changes I had to make. The first was relocating to a new area which was exciting for me because I was ready for the change so I can be closer to my family. The second was the change in my workflow. I transitioned from a smaller financial institution to the Consumer MBA program at Bank of America because I wanted the opportunity to make a broader impact and reach more customers. Most of my previous work consisted of working in the field and developing my own sales and leadership skills. In the Consumer MBA program, I am able to continue my development in those areas as well as stretch my analytical and strategic skills. Also, during the interview process I had the chance to meet with program alumni and others in the business, which helped to solidify my decision in wanting to join the bank.

What was the most rewarding part of being in the Consumer MBA program?

One of the most rewarding parts of the program would be my second rotation, where I worked with in the Tampa Bay market. During that time, I was able to use all of the experience that I gathered to add value to the team and developed additional leadership skills. I also greatly appreciated the camaraderie that existed between the participants in the program. To know there were 22 others that were experiencing the same situations I found myself in, and who were also so willing to help when I needed it, really gave me a sense that everyone wanted me to succeed. 

In 5 years, I see myself managing a team of individuals driving the strategy of Consumer Banking.

How would you describe the culture at Bank of America?

The culture at the bank is very collaborative. I worked with many different partners, and that ability to connect with others is almost critical to getting things done. The senior leaders and teammates that I work with really encourage my creativity and put value in my opinion.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years, I see myself managing a team of individuals driving the strategy of Consumer Banking. I am collaborative and strategic by nature, so I love the opportunities where I can influence my peers and partners and make sure that we are achieving the results we have set out for. I consider it a personal goal of mine to get into a leadership role and have direct management over several individual contributors on a team.
