What attracted you to a career at Bank of America?

This organization brings in people from so many different walks of life. You have people with degrees in law, engineering, political science, and even biology. There is no one, specific knowledge base so it is really an opportunity to grow holistically and build a well rounded background of all the functions within banking. I have been able to get my hands in multiple lines of business and do so many things that I would not have anticipated before I started.

What types of opportunities have been presented to you during your program?

In my first year here, I have had the opportunity to lead two projects where I was the sole individual responsible for the success of the initiatives. This meant that the leaders put a great deal of trust in you, so I had to push myself and others to complete the project correctly and in the allotted amount of time. These are real projects so it makes me feel like I am making an actual impact to the line of business.

I have been able to get my hands in multiple lines of business and do so many things that I would not have anticipated before I started.

What’s the most important thing you have learned?

One of the most important things I have learned is how the bank works to manage risk. It takes a large group of people to be on the same page and communicate effectively in order to be able to identify risks. Many of the roles require advance problem solving techniques to perform at your expectations. You have to be able to identify a weakness or inefficiency and find a way to help solve the problem.

What role do you play in Global Risk?

My role specifically has been with Credit Asset Decisions within Mortgage Servicing. I am responsible for covering the operational risks and analyzing various processes to find more efficient ways of handling them. Since it is in Mortgage Servicing, I am getting some underwriting and credit qualification exposure which has been really beneficial.
